Cute != Metal

Please take note: I have never been a metal fan. Not even marginally.

That being said, I saw Opeth sunday night. People who know me will no doubt be scratching their heads, but their show was something approaching awesome. I cannot say that it was awesome yet. That whole demon-voice thing is still silly and throws me out of a song I was otherwise diggin’. But Opeth may have changed my mind. May my search on iTunes be liberating.

Another band, Nevermore, was there as well. People really like Nevermore. I only took away two observations from their show. 1.) Their lead guitar player can fit sixteen-thousand notes in four bars. And that is truely awesome to see live. 2.) They must spend most their money on conditioner. That same guitar player had a head of hair with more body and shine than a Pantene model. In fact, they all did. Prompting my wife to call the band members, ‘cute.’ When your new album is called ‘This Godless Endeavor’ and women are calling you cute, you have an image problem.
